Connie’s nostalgic and romantic fascination for the English lifestyle shines through her work. Her designs give the appearance of complexity yet are achieved through her relaxed style and easy techniques.
She began decorative painting in the 70s and canvas painting in oils in 1983. In 1985 she began teaching in a local shop. Her love for the look of oils prompted her to seek out an acrylic palette and the techniques necessary to achieve the vibrant but soft and easy “painterly” look of oils with acrylics.
In 1991, under the name of St. James Place, she began designing her line of pattern packets and teaching workshops and seminars. Her decorative art books Perfectly English, Old World Charm and Jambalaya, N’Awlins Style and Old World Charm, Vol 2 have been well received. Connie’s newest release, A Classy Affair has many trendy pieces and is full of glorious paintable roses!
